On the occasion of the Altered States issue, frieze magazine and Marciano Art Foundation present a conversation with filmmaker and artist David Lynch and frieze senior editor and novelist Andrew Durbin about Lynch’s practice as a fine artist, focusing specifically on his sculpture and painting. Drawing on his new memoir Room to Dream and works being produced for upcoming exhibitions at Kayne Griffin Corcoran in Los Angeles and Bonnefantenmuseum in Maastrict, Lynch and Durbin will have a wide-ranging conversation about Lynch’s art practice, from his early days at the Philadelphia Academy of the Fine Arts to the present.
The conversation will be followed by the premiere screening of a new frieze film on Lynch’s interest in transcendental meditation, directed by his son Austin Lynch, and a Q&A with the audience.
We will also be streaming this event live.
