Group Visits FAQ

How many guests may I have in my group?

To ensure that everyone in your group can hear their docent and view the galleries comfortably, the capacity for group visits is 25 guests. This also allows for all other MAF guests to have an enjoyable experience.

May I book two tours at the same time?

Whether you are on a tour or visiting the MAF on your own, we would like all guests to have a pleasant experience in the galleries. With this in mind, MAF only books one tour at a time during our public hours. We are happy to book tours for the same group on the same day, but they will be scheduled for different times.

Where can my group park?

There is free parking available in the lot directly behind the Foundation, accessible off of Lucerne Blvd. Because it is limited, however, we do encourage carpooling where possible! Visitors must remove their vehicle from the lot when they leave MAF; we are not able to accommodate parking while guests visit another destination.

Does your parking lot have space for a bus?

We are unable to accommodate buses in our parking lot – you may unload and load on Lucerne Blvd, outside of the entrance to the courtyard. Please ask your driver to park elsewhere during your visit and return to pick you up.

How does my group check in? Do we need tickets?

5 days prior to your visit, you will receive an email that will allow you to finalize your headcount, submit a guest list and make payment on any balance due. This information is due 48 hours before your arrival to MAF. Tickets are not required for groups; MAF security will have your guest list and your guests can give their names as they arrive for admittance.

All members of your group must enter the building together; we suggest you gather in the sculpture courtyard outside of our main entrance on Lucerne Blvd 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment so that you may begin promptly at your start time. A staff member will meet you 10 minutes before your start time.

Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes before your visit – we will not be able to accommodate early entry and our sculpture courtyard can get quite cool or warm depending on the weather and time of day.

Is there a place to sit down during the tour? What if my guests cannot use stairs?

Guided visits last between 60 and 90 minutes and are on foot; both elevators and stairs are available. Seating is extremely limited and available in only a few locations, but MAF has wheelchairs available for use onsite. Please let us know if you require a wheelchair for one of your guests.

What can we bring into MAF?

Please remind your guests that no food or drink, including open containers of water, are permitted in the galleries. We ask that guests remain an arm’s length away from all artworks. Photos for personal use are welcome, but flash, tripods and selfie sticks are not. Additionally, all backpacks and large bags are not permitted in the galleries and we ask that they be left at home or in your vehicle.

Does MAF have a restaurant?

We have both a bookstore and café onsite. In addition to offering a selection of pre-prepared sandwiches, salads and snacks with first-come, first-served, indoor and outdoor seating, the café also offers the opportunity to pre-order a group lunch with reserved seating. If you are interested in a group reservation, please contact Joelle Bercovitch at (310) 463-8404. If your group is looking for other restaurant options, Larchmont Village, a walkable neighborhood with many dining options, is a 5-minute drive north of MAF.
